Cabinets are a deeply personal furniture form. Their interior spaces can conceal as well store, they can set things apart as special as well as keep safe. In my work, cabinet interiors are transformed into whole environments; secret, special places full of surprising details and extravagant materials. The cabinets house another reality, protected and kept separate from the outside world. Each piece tells a story, explains the conditions of its contents, has its own life. I want to provide the opportunity for the discovery of their details and to give pause to the user, to lend a degree of ceremony and consideration to an otherwise inconsequential interaction.
