Ladyslipper
Basswood, found panels, milkpaint, vintage kimono fabric, mahogany, acrylic, plastic pieces, reed, bronze wire.
Ladyslipper is an expression of my desire for comfort. I live several thousand miles from the rest of my family, seeing them only once or twice a year. I miss the close companionship of my sisters and the assurance of my parent’s presence. Ladyslipper emulates the feeling of security I have when I am surrounded by my family. The pods inside are like the cabinets’ brood; kept safe from the outside world in their parents embrace, nurtured in a place where no harm can come to them.
